In the last few years, I've made a career out of providing
intellectual discourse about why conservative ideology is in the best interests
of freedom and prosperity in this country. I've researched matters carefully,
and used facts and figures as well as evidenced argument to show that the side
of freedom and liberty are best provided by a small government, low taxation
and a strong national defense. Part of that argument is a strong support of the
Constitution and why it is a unique and special document.
Four years of work thrown out the window by a jerk that that couldn't keep it in his pants for a few minutes on a second rate talk show with
a failing host so he could make a big splash on the headlines. Now not only
guns may be regulated, but whenever you say that word ‘conservative’ people are
going to think, ‘oh yah those crackpots that think 9/11 was an inside job’.
Who am I talking about?
Alex Jones, and his single handed effort in destroying the
face of the 2nd Amendment on the Piers Morgan show. When he ranted
about guns and revolution on his segment, Alex Jones got exactly what he
wanted.
A high public profile for Alex Jones, not a coherent
argument for the 2nd Amendment.
Let’s face it; Alex Jones was not burning up the airwaves
with his show on radio compared to more mainstream hosts like Sean Hannity,
Bill O Reilly or even Rush Limbaugh. His content of truther, birther and some
would say crackpot theories plays well to his audience. Yet Piers Morgan chose
him to represent the argument for the 2nd Amendment.
He didn't have Wayne LaPierre on, who presented a cogent
argument against more laws and for more security at schools in the form of
armed guards or uniformed officers. Piers didn't even have on any spokespeople
for the gun industry; or even professional sports shooters like spokesman Chris
Cheng who could provide a face to the industry that safe, sane and reasonable.
No, he had on a wild man, foaming at the mouth and someone
that could provide to the world the image that Piers wanted to provide, Alex
Jones, who over the next few days will be media blitzed with stories about some
of his more outlandish ideas.
It’s like a modern day geek show, only this time the victim
will be our liberties and freedoms.
Piers Morgan up to this point has had sagging ratings and
public blackened eye about the whole 2nd Amendment issue, to the
point people were writing the White House to get him deported. He was the face
of gun control argument, and the issue was quickly growing cold for the
leftists.
Fortunately for Piers, along comes Alex Jones and his whole
wild man routine (not to mention his staged rant at the airport before hand)
and suddenly the case for gun control is back in business. Not so
coincidentally, also come new ads and a new face is put on the movement-
Gabrielle Giffords. Who can deny they wouldn’t be swayed by her ‘reasonable’
argument—that guns are unsafe because look what they did to me.
Safe. Sane. Reasonable. Common sense.
These are lies that they will tell you in order so they can legislate
guns out of existence, and people are likely to believe that argument with the
Jones’s of the world defending guns. They are going to show pictures of dead
kids, and say how guns are unsafe. They are going to make it health issue in
the new Obamacare guidelines, causing the costs of ownership to go up in the
form of taxes and fees. They are going to limit how you use guns, where you can
use them, and in what manner in which they are used.
The problem with the conservative movement is not the
message; it’s always been the marketing.
They are going to put the Alex Jones’s of the world on
public parade, so they create an image of intellectual chaos of the gun lobby
the same way they painted the Tea Party as ranting rednecks to discredit them,
and the same they painted Mitt Romney as a rich frat boy extremist that bullies
young men and blames people for their own poverty during the election.
And we all know how that turned out.
