So yesterday the campaigner in Chief Barack Obama decided to
address the nation on the wild increases in gas pricing at the pump in an
effort to mitigate the damage to his campaign. He didn’t give a toot about the
effect it was having on the economy; it was only until word got out that people
won’t vote for a President with 6 dollar a gallon gas prices did he get
motivated to address the issue.
And so what was his answer? Not a whole heckuva lot:
You know there are no
quick fixes to this problem, and you know we can’t just drill our way to lower
gas prices. If we’re going to take control of our energy future; if we’re
going to avoid these gas price spikes down the line, then we need a sustained,
all-of-the-above strategy that develops every available source of American
energy – oil, gas, wind, solar, nuclear, biofuels, and more- Barack Obama,
2/23/2012
Basically, he argued that what the administration has proposed
already will help, but the bottom line is that things aren’t going to change because
of government.
Funny thing is, this is coming from the man that proposed
that government was the solution to everything already. He has argued
government can solve world peace, feed the hungry, give jobs to the unemployed
and shelter the homeless. In fact, Obama’s mantra since 2008 is that government
can solve just about everything except cure a rainy day—and he has people
working on that.
So when the President stands in front of everyone and tells
us we are all idiots for not using other sources of energy and gas prices aren’t
going to change anytime soon he is acting intellectually dishonestly. How can
you argue that government is the solution to everything, but not one of the
most serious problems in the last 5 months?
Not that I disagree with the President; he just doesn’t go
far enough. Instead of saying that government can’t fix the problem, he should have
said government should simply get out of the way of the marketplace and let
market forces cure the problem. Of course that’s going a bit far for our
socialist President. He would never admit that.
Nope—he is going to do what he does best. Blame Americans:
That means we
can’t just rely on fossil fuels from the last century. We can’t just
allow ourselves to be held hostage by the ups and downs of the world oil
market. We have to keep developing new sources of energy. We have
to keep developing new technology that helps us use less energy. We have
to keep relying on the American know-how and ingenuity that comes from places
like the University of Miami. That’s our future. - Obama 2/23/2012
He practically calls Americans a bunch of nabobs that need
to stop driving gas guzzling cars and stick a solar panel on everything. This is the classic liberal argument; that they are smarter
and more advanced intellectually and therefore you must do as we say.
Well, there’s one good thing about 6 dollar gas Mr.
President. It means people will start to wake up to the realities of a
socialist government every time they need to break out a loan to go to work.
Thank the heavens for that.

ReplyDelete"Funny thing is, this is coming from the man that proposed that government was the solution to everything already. I'll tell you what’s funny, the fact that you did not cite or reference where President Obama made any such assertion. One's argument comes off very weak when one engages such rhetoric.

Here once again your rhetoric is unsupported by what you've written. It would have been nice if you provided a quote where the president asked Americans to "stop driving gas guzzling cars" as you put it, but nowhere in quote is there any mention of cars. The readers is left to accept your interpretation of the President's comments, which I can say with the utmost certainty that most objective readers would find your take on them a bit of stretch. You cited this statement as proof of your contention or validation of your argument but I think it only supports what President Obama has been saying on the issue.
1. "That means we can’t just rely on fossil fuels from the last century. We can’t just allow ourselves to be held hostage by the ups and downs of the world oil market." Please tell me what wrong with this statement.
2. "We have to keep developing new sources of energy. We have to keep developing new technology that helps us use less energy. We have to keep relying on the American know-how and ingenuity." My friend this has been always the quest of mankind, from the time man stoke his first fire to nuclear power and beyond. How does make the President seem "smarter and more advanced intellectually" to you and why do you think citing this statement supports your argument? Doesn't it make sense to find better and more efficient sources of energy that we control? Look forward to your response.
It seems to me that the less America relies on oil, the higher the price we will pay. By the way, if you repeatedly call the President "a socialist", it makes me wonder...by attempting to help the people President Obama represents, how is that socialism?
